Viola Sampson RCST BCST
Registered craniosacral therapist
I am a registered craniosacral therapist practising at the Healthy Living Centre in Islington, North London (N1).
I am committed to the biodynamic approach to craniosacral therapy that follows the priorities and pace set by you and your body. This means that treatment is gentle and supportive while facilitating deep, holistic change.
To support your craniosacral treatment, I can also suggest simple, empowering body awareness tools that you can then easily use in everyday life.
Training and affiliations
I am a registered member of the Craniosacral Therapy Association (CSTA), setting high standards of training and practice. The title ‘RCST’ signifies that, as a registered practitioner, I am accountable to the CSTA’s Code of Ethics in Practice and am committed to continued professional development.
My two-year training in biodynamic craniosacral therapy at the respected London college, the Craniosacral Therapy Educational Trust (CTET), required 200 supervised client hours, including training clinic experience, as well as qualification in anatomy and physiology. My training is recognised by the International Affiliation of Biodynamic Trainings (IABT). This is not a practitioner registering body, but works to set high training standards, giving all graduates the title ‘BCST’.
I regularly attend postgraduate courses to advance my professional development and incorporate the latest approaches into my work. I value ongoing peer supervision as well as professional supervision with an accredited supervisor.
I have studied the work of Babette Rothschild, a psychotherapist specialising in post traumatic stress, the body’s response to shock, and ways to work with that safely, and have integrated the principles of her approach into my practice.
Teaching and supervision
I also offer supervised practice sessions and tutorials to craniosacral therapists in training, professional supervision to complementary therapists, and specialist clinical supervision to qualified practitioners on working with fatigue conditions. I teach craniosacral therapists in my areas of special interest, and have assisted as part of the teaching team on both undergraduate and postgraduate trainings, including supervising training clinics.
Background and interests
My background is in medical biosciences: primarily genetics and neuroscience (brain research), and in 20 years of environmental and human rights work. Studies in ecopsychology and a chi kung practice also inform my work. From the personal to the planetary, I am interested in how our relationship to our world affects our wellbeing as a whole.
